Employment History

3/9/1990 - date: Estate Computer Systems Limited (Sleaford, Lincolnshire)
Was invited to re-join this company during August 1990. Commenced employment here on 3rd September. Almost immediately continued where I had left off 18 months previously, but as the company had grown in this period, my role had changed slightly away from support to more of a systems development role as far as ECS systems are concerned. Training and support on other applications has continued (WordPerfect and Lotus, and Microsoft Products), as has training users on our own specialist Report Writer program. Appointed Programming Administration Manager in December 1991 to control a team of 8 programmers and testers (team then numbered 17). In January 1993 additionally appointed Company Quality Manager (initially to introduce and implement British Standards 5750 into the company - now BS EN ISO 9001:1994, but working towards BS EN ISO 9001:2000). January 2000 - appointed sole responsibility for the Company Quality System with no additional company management responsibilities.
3/1989 to 7/1990: CTT Limited (Spalding, Lincolnshire)
Was invited to join this local recruitment and training company as Finance and Computer manager, responsible for day to day management of the computerized Purchase, Sales, Invoicing and Payroll ledgers (using Pegasus Senior Accounts programs), production of management information and monthly management accounts. Also responsible for a 10 station computer network system, six other PC's together with the various applications in use, and two computer based interactive video training systems. Involved in the training of both young people and Management level personnel in the use of computers including Operating Systems, Word Processing, Accounts, Spreadsheets and Database work. Company ceased trading 20th July 1990.
1983 - 1989: Anglia Telecommunications (Peterborough) Limited
Originally a telephone systems and computer salesman. Experience with computers listed on separate sheet. Selling developed into support and training as the company grew. My role changed and additional sales staff were employed. At the beginning of 1987 the computer section of Anglia Telecommunications was merged with the Sleaford based computer company -
1987: Estate Computer Systems Limited (Sleaford, Lincolnshire)
Company specialising in database software for the Property market. Mainly involved in specialist report writing, Pegasus accounts, WP and Spreadsheet training and support, also training and support using their own specialist software.
1982 - 1983: Dabbs Office Equipment Company (Peterborough, Cambridgeshire)
Salesman selling office equipment, typewriters, photocopiers, office furniture etc... (Whilst here attended the Rank Xerox Sales Course). Won inter-branch selling competition beating five other offices' contestants. Moved to computer selling towards end of time here. Was offered another selling position by an ex-manager of this company, who had previously left to set up his own computer and telecommunications company. Moved there in 1983.
1980 - 1982: Speedprint Design (Spalding, Lincolnshire)
Self-employed. Was instrumental, with a partner, in setting up a small printing company in Spalding. Differences between the two partners on future plans for the company resulted in my deciding to 'sell-out'.
1973 - 1980: East of England Agricultural Society (Peterborough, Cambridgeshire)
Responsibilities included (in no particular order) - Production of the Society's main Show catalogue from receiving the entries to placing the print order; all the show's publicity as secretary of the publicity committee; secretary also to the Safety and Conservation committees; staff responsibilities included three secretaries and a full time printing department which was created and run by myself. At the point of my leaving this print department was responsible for all of the society's internal print requirements (entry forms, committee minutes, posters, leaflets, brochures etc...) Left because of a desire to become self-employed in the printing industry.
1969 - 1973: Beesons (London) Limited (Spalding, Lincolnshire)
Started as trainee office manager responsible for day to day operations of this Potato Merchant's office in Long Sutton until the office closed down and the Head Office moved to Spalding. Was made Office Manager with responsibility for accounts to Trial Balance stage.
